Sweet Potato Bar Recipe to Please All Ages at the Thanksgiving Feast

Want to add something a little different, but extra fun to your Thanksgiving dinner this year? Set up a sweet potato

bar! Both adults and kids will love building their own sweet potatoes with all kinds of toppings. And there won’t be any complaints because everyone will have exactly the kind of sweet potato they want. Simply set up a table or counter-top with a platter full of just baked sweet potatoes (keep potatoes wrapped in foil to keep warm) and various toppings that your guests can put on their potatoes. We suggest having both savory and sweet ingredients available so guests can build the potato they’re craving. You can even leave the bar set up during dessert time, so guests can munch on a dessert sweet potato instead of pie if they choose. You can add as many condiments to your sweet potato bar as you want, but here are some of our favorites:

  • Plain Greek Yogurt
  • Butterball Turkey Bacon, cooked, drained, and crumbled
  • Scallions
  • Blue Cheese
  • Mini Marshmallows
  • Pecans
  • Brown Sugar
  • Coconut, toasted
  • Honey
  • Maple Syrup
  • Sweetened dried cranberries
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Raisins

Top sweet potatoes with any combination of toppings. We especially love combining Greek yogurt, Butterball turkey

bacon, and scallions. For a dessert sweet potato, try sprinkling potato with brown sugar, drizzling honey, and topping with pecans. Directions: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Pierce sweet potatoes with a fork in several places. 3. Place potatoes about 2-inches apart on foil-lined baking pan. Bake 40 to 60 minutes or until the tip of the knife is easily inserted into potatoes. 4. Split the tops of the potatoes using the

tines of a fork, pushing the ends slightly to open. Arrange on a platter. 5. Place the toppings in small serving dishes. Arrange around the sweet potatoes or on the table, so guests can top their potatoes as they choose.
